Lockdown life has been divisive in so many ways for parents. Some have relished the time away from the office, others have struggled to juggle home and work in the same space.
For me, the past 18 months have served as a stark reminder of my organisational inadequacies versus other mums as we enter a summer of smartphone calendars, online reservation systems and emailed bar codes. Every week needs to be mapped out and even a pub-garden picnic table should be booked a month ahead in this new era of tech-enabled parenting.

Best for beaches: Tel Aviv
In search of perfect beaches (and bronzed bodies), only a four hour flight ride away from the UK? Tel Aviv - whose name means ‘Hill of the Spring’ – ticks both boxes. There’s a beach for every occasion and character: one to party, play sports, one for families (Metzitzim Beach), a religious beach (Nordau Beach where men and women are segregated) and another for the LBGT brigade (hello Hilton Beach). However Alma Beach, near the Charles Clore Park, is arguably where you go for the swankiest sand. This is the spot to stretch out your beach towel and enjoy the fabulous people watching opportunities, rest, relax and read that book that’s been sitting on your bedside table since Christmas.

Incontro organizzato dall’amministrazione comunale per fare il punto sulla situazione per l’ipotesi dell’insediamento nel territorio del deposito nazionale di rifiuti radioattivi a cui avevano subito espresso parere contrario, attraverso un ordine del giorno congiunto i Comuni di Mazzè, di Caluso, e di Rondissone.

Oil-drilling threat to Africa’s oldest national park highlighted by young activists’ documentary
by Lungi Langa, Daily Maverick July 2, 2021 Young activists have spoken out against the effects of fossil fuel exploration in Virunga National Park, a biodiverse site that is one of the most treasured parks in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The activists launched their documentary on Thursday to coincide with the country’s celebrations of 61 years of independence. The documentary is part of an ongoing campaign to speak out against oil exploration in the park.
