TAYLOR, Mich. – Police are investigating a fatal shooting inside a Taylor apartment complex that happened early Wednesday morning.
Police said it happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Pond Village Drive, near Eureka and Inkster roads.
According to authorities, a 28-year-old man was shot multiple times. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died. Police have taken a 23-year-old man into custody. They believe he shot and killed his sister’s boyfriend.
Sources said the 23-year-old shooter patiently waited the entire time for police to arrive and take in him. The altercation that took place leading to the shooting is still being investigated.
Commencement ceremonies for the high school class of 2021 may have more pomp as circumstances permit this spring.
Erie area schools plan to honor graduates in person. And even proms, class trips, baccalaureate services and other senior-centric events may happen, contingent on COVID-19 case numbers and Erie County Department of Health approval. Graduation won t be 2,000 people plus faculty and staff at the Bayfront Convention Center, but it may be more traditional than last year, said James Vieira, dean of Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy in Erie.
The class of 2021 will be the second class to graduate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Commencements last year were virtual, in-person for small groups at a time, or both. Plans for 2021 in-person events are still works in progress because state health and education department guidelines are le to change.
Man found dead on shoulder of SB I-275 near Eureka Road

A man has been found dead Tuesday night on the shoulder of Interstate 275 near Eureka Road, police said.
A vehicle was found in the area. Police are investigating the circumstance of the man’s death and whether the vehicle is related.
The southbound side of I-275 was shut down Tuesday night near Eureka Road. It has since reopened.

A ROAD upgrade project costing taxpayers $333,000 per kilometre is progressing on the Northern Rivers.
The resurfacing works for the Lismore Bangalow Rd is an $11 million project, and has now progressed to the second stage of work, which includes resurfacing 33km and building a new overtaking lane.
Regional Transport and Roads Minister Paul Toole said the project was supporting 10 direct jobs at a time when they’re needed most in regional NSW, while improving safety for all road users.
“Materials are being sourced from local suppliers,” he said.
“And the project is also employing local contractors, helping the NSW Government deliver on its commitment to maintaining jobs in regional communities.”

(BEDFORD) – On Tuesday, 29-year-old Sean Meadows, who said he was homeless, pleaded guilty to possession of meth in Lawrence County Superior Court I.

In a negotiated plea deal, Meadows pleaded guilty to the possession of meth charges.
Judge John Plummer III sentenced Meadows to serve four years on the arson case for violating his probation.
In December 2010, Judge Plummer sentenced Meadows to six years of supervised probation for setting a wildfire that caused damage to Highview Baptist Church.
Meadows was sentenced on one count of felony arson, in addition to auto theft from a separate case after pleading guilty in a negotiated plea deal on November 1, 2019 and was released on his own recognizance until his sentencing.
