Local News: House resigns from hospital commission (12/23/20)

Eureka Springs Hospital Commission chairman Dr. John House is stepping down from the commission. House announced last week that he will be leaving the hospital commission at the end of December. In an email, House writes that officers serve for two years, so someone will be replacing him as chairman in January. “I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave the hospital commission at the end of the month,” House writes. “I realize there are still 18 months left in my term, but with all the extra demands placed on healthcare workers due to the pandemic, I feel that I’m unable to give the commission the time and attention it needs at this important moment in history.”

Local News: Hospital employees receive 1st doses of COVID-19 vaccine (12/22/20)

Hospitals in Berryville and Eureka Springs received their first shipments of COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, Dec. 18, and began vaccinating employees that afternoon. Mercy Hospital in Berryville planned to begin vaccinating employees at about 1 p.m. Friday, senior media relations specialist Jennifer Cook said by email Wednesday, Dec. 16. “It will likely take a couple of days to exhaust the supply in the first shipment, so vaccinations will continue Monday,” Cook said. “We followed state guidelines for prioritizing recipients, and those working directly with COVID patients and high-risk co-workers are first.” Cody Qualls, executive director of development, corporate and community relations for Mercy Berryville, said 54 hospital employees had been vaccinated by Monday morning.

Ramsey found probable cause to charge Moran with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer; fleeing; aggravated assault; first-degree battery; second-degree battery; failure to appear on aggravated assault, fleeing, possession of methamphetamine and other charges; theft by receiving; possession of a body art instrument; driving left of center; driving on a suspended license due to DWI; reckless driving; no proof of liability insurance; fictitious vehicle license; no proof of ownership, littering; defective equipment; failure to use a turn signal; failure to stop or yield; no seat belt; speeding; and improper display of license plate.
