Investigators have identified the victim in a crash in Yucca Valley Sunday in which a Yucca Valley woman was hit by a vehicle as she was crossing the highway. About 9 p.m., a Dodge Caravan was traveling westbound on Highway 62. As the van approached the intersection of Dumosa Avenue, the driver slowed for a red light. The light turned green and the driver proceeded through the intersection. The driver did not see Benigna Keene, 64 who had entered the crosswalk pushing a shopping cart and the Dodge hit her. Keene suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver stopped immediately and called for help for Keene, who was unconscious. The driver and deputies provided medical aid until paramedics arrived. Benigna Keene was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs.
