Two bodies were found in a fire in Yucca Valley Monday night, in what the Sheriff’s Department is calling a homicide/arson. Firefighters were called to the 7700 block of Bannock Trail about 11:15 p.m. Monday, where they were told that a man was believed to still be inside the house. Fire crews went into firefighting and rescue mode and recovered the body of a man inside a bedroom. His identity has not been released yet pending notification of next of kin. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Arson squad were called to the scene and found a second body, identified as Jeffrey Wire Sr., 45, of Yucca Valley, in the master bedroom, near the fire’s point of origin. Autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of death of both the unidentified man and Jeffrey Wire, who is suspected of starting the fire.

Viloria said the son told them that his father was believed to still be inside the home. Firefighters went into a firefighting and rescue mode and found the body inside. Viloria said the home is still standing but the interior was gutted by the blaze. Sheriff’s detectives are investigating.
