YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL MEETS: MEASURE Y FUNDS AND ANIMAL CONTROL

Following a closed session meeting, the Yucca Valley Town Council will hold their public meeting tonight at 6 p.m. Reporter Joshua King has the details on what will be covered… After the closed session in which the town council will discuss both property negotiations and labor negotiations with unrepresented employees, the public meeting starts with the partial allocation of Measure Y funding towards multiple local non-profit organizations. Next, the council will receive and file the annual Animal Care and Control Report. The Town will also receive and file their staff’s report of their Special Revenue Funds for the fiscal year 2021 – 2022, and will then finish up the meeting with the acceptance of a bequest totaling $59,733.92 towards the Yucca Valley Animal Shelter from the trust of Jean Laurie Davis.

WITH 2 YEARS OF ROADWORK COMING, SHERIFF S CAPTAIN SAYS SLOW DOWN

At the Yucca Valley Town Council meeting Tuesday, the council heard a presentation from Caltrans about the improvements being made on Highway 62 from the bottom of the Morongo Grade to Twentynine Palms, a project that is expected to last two years. Managing editor Tami Roleff says at the conclusion of Tuesday’s meeting, the council heard from the Morongo Basin’s Sheriff’s captain who asked residents to slow down… “We’re looking forward to the wonderful highway improvement project finally coming to our area.” Sheriff’s captain Luke Niles told the Yucca Valley Town Council that while calls for service for crime-related calls have remained pretty steady over the last year, that hasn’t been the case for other types of calls.
