On July 15, what initially began as a call of menacing with an armed weapon escalated to the Eugene Police Department blocking parts of 11th Avenue and Jefferson Street in the Jefferson-Washington neighborhood.
At 9:15 am, Eugene police responded to a call of someone menacing with an armed weapon, EPD spokesperson Melinda McLaughlin tells
Eugene Weekly.
At 1 pm, police were trying to contact him, McLaughlin says.
At the 1100 block of Jefferson, EPD had several police officers present, Eugene-Springfield Fire Department officials, a drone flying overhead and a BearCat.
At 2:27 pm, many people in the area of the 1100 block of Jefferson received an emergency alert on their phones, saying to shelter in place.

Investigators ask that anyone who was at the park Saturday evening and saw something suspicious call Eugene Police.

EUGENE, Ore. The Eugene-Springfield Fire Department and the Eugene Police Department are investigating three fires on Skinner Butte over the weekend as possible arson.
The fires started around 7 p.m. Saturday and smoke was seen billowing above downtown Eugene. The three fires burned on different parts of the butte but were put out within 45 minutes.
Eugene Public Works was called in to remove burned trees that were deemed a safety hazard to the public.

Right now, boats and drones are over the water looking for the man.

EUGENE, Ore. UPDATE 10:30 p.m.- After a windy day, search and rescue crews were finally able to get onto the water to search for a missing boater at Fern Ridge Reservoir on Monday.
It all started just before 1 p.m. when witnesses reported a missing man last seen about 150 yards offshore, near the dam on the north side of the lake.
The Eugene-Springfield Fire Department and Lane Rural Fire Authority are taking part in the search. Right now, boats and drones are being used.
With little public disagreement or displays of partisanship, Oregon lawmakers passed dozens of bills by Saturday afternoon and concluded the 2021 legislative session.
