Police chief calls for church leaders to âapologize or be terminatedâ for ârace baitingâ

Charlottesville Police Chief RaShall Brackney called for the leaders of a local church who accused officers of racial profiling in October to âapologize or to be terminated,â saying their actions were ârace baiting.â
The call came during a news conference Thursday in which Brackney played portions of body-worn camera footage that she said refuted allegations laid by the Unitarian Universalist Church and its reverend, Linda Olson Peebles.
Milton Hildebrand
Milton Hildebrand died on Nov. 28. He was 102 years old.
Milton and his three siblings grew up in Berkeley in a family that provided varied outdoor activities and exposed them to science. (Their father was an eminent chemist on the UC Berkeley faculty.)
Starting at age 8, Milton participated in many Sierra pack trips with family and friends. The children all became proficient at camping and packing burros and mules. When he was 11, Milton and his brothers attended a boy’s boarding school in Switzerland for six months, learning skiing, German, and how to be pals with international classmates.
As an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, Milton majored in zoology. He skied in the winters (he was captain of the university ski team, and, on skis, made winter ascents of several peaks, including Mount Shasta), and spent most of his summers in the Sierra. The Maine CDC reports 405 new cases of COVID-19 statewide and 91 people who have recovered. 7 more people, diagnosed with the virus, have passed away in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Hancock, and York counties.
Bangor Police are once again asking for the public s help locating a homeless man who s been missing since last year. 55-year-old Richard Cole has blonde hair and blue eyes, is about 5 8 tall and 150 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Aaron Brooker.
Mainers who are still unemployed as a result of the pandemic will receive a one-time $600 payment through the state s new pandemic relief program. The payment will be distributed by the end of the December to the individual s account or debit card on file with the unemployment program.
