Students can learn basic personal safety skills and about situational awareness this Saturday, March 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. “I was approached by Brandon Gettel, the Sebewaing village chief of police, said Superintendent George Rierson. He was contacted by a few parents who were interested in some additional personal safety training for their students following the carjacking incident. On Feb. 11, an 18-year old USA High School student’s car was carjacked at knife point.

That information was posted on the district’s website by the superintendent’s secretary Teresa Dinsmoore. A positive case was also detected in the district last week in a high school staff member. Students who were in close contact with the student who tested positive have been identified and provided with quarantine instructions. The district is working with Ann Hepfer, who is the health officer for both the Huron County Health Department and the Tuscola County Health Department, in addressing the issue and in doing contact tracing.

USA Schools has new COVID-19 case Staff member is probable positive FacebookTwitterEmail USA Schools (Tribune File Photo) The Unionville-Sebewaing Area School District announced that one of its staff members is a probable positive COVID-19 case. “The district is coordinating closely with the Huron County Health Department to assure our community’s health and safety,” superintendent George Rierson said in the announcement. The staff member identified is not a teacher and the district was notified of the probable positive on Monday morning. The district performed contact tracing with the health department and identified all close contacts through video to identify those who were around the individual for a cumulative 15 minutes.
