More coronavirus vaccine headed for Yuma County
2,500 doses of Moderna vaccine arriving next week
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Public Health District (YCPHD) announced Friday more doses of Moderna s coronavirus vaccine will arrive next week.
YCPHD says it expects 2,500 doses. Health officials will open an online portal for appointments on
Monday, February 1, at 1 p.m. MST.
In the past, Yuma County has had problems using a phone system for reservations. The volume of callers overwhelmed its lines. For that reason,
the county will accept

Local clinics work to quickly get COVID-19 vaccines to patients

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Local clinics have been inundated with calls from patients wanting and needing the COVID-19 vaccine, but right now, health professionals can t get enough vaccine to meet the demand.
Sunset Health CEO David Rogers said the clinic receives about 4,000-5,000 calls a day to it s main line. All of those people want to know when they can get the vaccine?
Over the next three days Sunset Health will continue inoculating it s patients. It has enough shots for 550 people. All of those people

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 2,426 new cases of COVID-19 throughout the state and 172 additional deaths related to the virus.
The state has administered 1,096,126 COVID vaccines to Arizonans.
In Yuma County, 28,059 residents have received the vaccine. In La Paz County, 3,581 residents have received the vaccine.
Feb. 11
The Yuma County Health District reported 24 new cases today and 5 additional deaths related to COVID-19.
It brings the total number of cases countywide to 35,907 and deaths to 750.
As of 8 a.m. Thursday, there were 60 patients hospitalized at Yuma Regional Medical Center and 26 in the intensive care unit.
As of Jan. 24 the percentage of positive tests for Yuma County was at 16%.
