Spectrum acquisition in recent auctions to fill certain gaps in some circles has put VIL on a strong footing to be competitive in market, ensuring all elements are now in place to offer improved services and compelling proposition to customers, a senior company official said.

Share price of telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries surged on Wednesday, March 3, a day after the companies purchased radiowaves in the spectrum auction 2021. In the two-day spectrum auction, 855.60 MHz of spectrum was bought for ₹ 77,814.80 crore. On Wednesday, Reliance Industries surged over two per cent on the BSE. It opened at Rs 2121.70, touching an intra day high of Rs 2157 and an intra day low of Rs 2107.20, so far. Shares of Bharti Airtel opened on the BSE at Rs 548.25, touching an intra day high of Rs 550.5 and an intra day low of Rs 540.25, so far. (
Telecom Spectrum Auction 2021: Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea win spectrum as auction raises Rs. 77814 crore for Govt
The Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced the winners in the 2021 spectrum auction in various circles that ended after 2 days. At the end of the auction government got bids worth Rs. 77,814.80 core with Rs. 77,146 raised on the first day after four rounds and Rs 668.20 crore raised in the two rounds on the second day. This substantially exceeded pre-bid estimates of Rs. 45,000 crore. Bharti Airtel Ltd, Vodafone Idea, and Reliance Jio took part in the auction.
The government had put radio waves in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz, but participants did not bid in 700 MHz and 2500 MHz bands. A total quantity of 2308.80 MHz spectrum wasput to auction, including spectrum that is expiring up to December, 2021. Of this quantity, bids were received for 855.60MHz of spectrum.
