Some residents, who spoke to NAN, not only condemned the action of the insurgents but lamented the continued inability of the authorities concern to restore the power.
“It’s now one week and most people don’t know why there is no electricity in Maiduguri.
“We need to know what caused it and efforts by the power company to address the matter.
“You can’t leave people in darkness without explanation,’’ a resident, Ibrahim Abubakar, said.
Also, a welder, Moses Bala, said the development has grounded his business because he solely depends on electricity from the national grid for his work.

It was alleged that Mrs Daniel worked directly under Mr Otinjele when he was the business manager of the Electricity Distribution Company Yola, where they started a sexual relationship.

Two officials of the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), Ebenezer Otinjele and Juliana Daniel, have been arrested by the police in Adamawa over an alleged extra-marital affair.
The two suspects are currently being held in police custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Yola.
It was gathered that Mr Otinjele is a pastor with the Liberty International Gospel Centre, Yola, the Adamawa State Capital, while Mrs Daniel is also a female pastor at Encouragement Fellowship International.

A month after taking delivery of one million meters under the National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP), the electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) have warehoused 983,693 in their offices.
The 11 distribution companies were only able to distribute 16,308 prepaid meters as of November 2020, while electricity consumers were yearning for units amidst estimated billings.
This was contained in the latest figures from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) tagged: “Analysis of meter deployment across electricity distribution companies report for the month of November 2020.” x
The report also said Enugu, Benin, Ibadan and Yola Discos with 372,624 meters had yet to begin deployment as of the time the data was released.

The Police in Bauchi State has arrested 22 persons for organising a sex party in Dass, the headquarters of Dass Local Government Area of the state.
This was revealed on Wednesday at the state Police Command headquarters in Bauchi by the state Commissioner of Police, Lawan Tanko Jimeta while parading the suspects.
Represented by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the police boss said the arrest of the suspects, who had formed a syndicate, followed an intelligence report received from Dass by the command.
He explained that members of the syndicate gained notoriety for “thuggery, phone snatching and indecent acts including sex parties”.
