Inquest into death of Martin Conroy from Thorpe St Andrew

Martin Conroy - Credit: Norfolk Constabulary A Norwich man with a history of mental ill health took his own life after drinking heavily at his home, an inquest has heard.  Martin Conroy, 57, was found by his carer at his home on Margaret Crescent, Thorpe St Andrew, on October 21.  The inquest heard Mr Conroy had moved to a new bungalow in August 2020 following the break-up with his wife of 35 years in June.  A statement written by his ex-wife had stated Mr Conroy s mental health had deteriorated while they were living together in Aylsham, and he became increasingly paranoid. She continued to support him after he moved to Thorpe St Andrew. 

Chelsie Dack inquest adjourned due to police investigation

Chelsie Louise Dack, from Bradwell, was last seen before leaving her home on High Street, in Gorleston, on April 20 last year. A pre-inquest review was held on Monday, March 15, where area coroner Yvonne Blake said proceedings were not ready to continue due to an ongoing police investigation. At the opening of Ms Dack s inquest on January 4, she said the 23-year-old s cause of death was consistent with immersion in water. A Facebook group was set up to assist in the search of Ms Dack, a sales negotiator in Lowestoft, following her disappearance, which amassed 8,000 people in one night, while police, coastguard helicopters, the RNLI and Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue team combed the area.

Her mother is planning to unveil a memorial plaque on a bench on Gorleston seafront. - Credit: Submitted A plaque dedicated to a girl who took her own life will be unveiled on a bench on the coast, with the mother hoping the memorial will prompt discussions on child suicide. Lee-Anne Collins, 36, lives in Hopton with her husband and two children, but lost her daughter Jessica, 14, in 2016. She said that three people have generously donated £230 toward the plaque that will bear her daughter s name and be fixed to a bench overlooking the pond on Gorleston s seafront.

Area coroner Yvonne Blake confirmed the inquest was now ready to take place following a pre-inquest review on Monday, March 15. At the opening of the inquest on January 4, she listed Miss Perry s cause of death as multiple injuries and drowning due to, or as a consequence of, entrapment beneath a boat following a fall into the water.
