Article content Two men have been charged after they were allegedly speeding on a highway near Bienfait on Saturday. According to an RCMP news release, an Estevan officer was patrolling Highway 18 when he saw two red cars travelling eastbound near Bienfait. The vehicles were travelling side by side on the two-lane highway. One vehicle was clocked at 214 kilometres-per-hour and the other at 190. The speed limit in the area is 110. Both men are scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on June 14.

EPS members arrest the same person twice on one day

A short time after his release he was arrested again at a north end business for causing a disturbance. He was lodged in cells and charged with causing a disturbance under the Criminal Code, and was subsequently released on conditions in front of a Justice of the Peace. Police also attended to a residence in the south end of the city to keep the peace while an individual retrieved property from the residence. The matter was resolved without further incident. Police attended to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Fifth Street and Souris Avenue South. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, however no injuries resulted from the collision.  The driver of the eastbound vehicle on Fifth Street failed to yield to the northbound vehicle on Souris Avenue and was issued a summary offence ticket under the Traffic Safety Act.

Police makes arrests for impaired driving and theft of vehicle

EPS received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving erratically in southwest Estevan. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, but was soon found by members and arrested for theft of a motor vehicle. He was also charged under the Traffic Safety Act for driving with only a Class 7 learner’s licence, driving an unregistered vehicle and for being an unauthorized driver.
