Following a pair of road series wins at Penn State and Michigan State, the #22 Nebraska baseball team returns to Hawks Field for a three-game series against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Following a pair of road series wins at Penn State and Michigan State, the #22 Nebraska baseball team (20-7) returns to Hawks Field for a three-game series against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (14-13). The series opener is scheduled for 6:30 PM (CT) on Friday evening and will be the first game between the two teams in Lincoln since 2017. Saturday’s game is set for 4 PM and the series finale is scheduled for Noon on Sunday.

The Huskers enter the weekend at the top of the Big Ten standings, holding a 1.5 game lead over both Indiana and Michigan. Nebraska has won all seven conference series its played this year, marking the first time in program history that the baseball team has won seven straight conference series to start a season. NU is also ranked in the top 25 for the first time in 2021, as they were ranked in three different media polls

Michigan Baseball s six-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon in a 4-2 loss to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (13-13) in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines (19-8) saw the bats go cold on a chilly Saturday afternoon at home, finishing the day with a pair of runs on only five hits.
The action in this game was mostly seen in the middle innings. Michigan scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth without achieving a hit. The two runs came on an error followed by a sacrifice fly in foul territory to give the Wolverines a 2-0 lead. Michigan would strand a runner on third base to end the inning.
Pitching: RHP TV/Streaming: BTN+ The Nebraska baseball team (18-6) kept its hold on the top spot in the Big Ten standings with a three-game sweep at Penn State last weekend. The Huskers will look to continue their winning ways this weekend when they visit East Lansing, Mich., for a three-game series against the Michigan State Spartans (11-15).
The series opener at McLane Stadium is scheduled for Friday at 4 PM (CT) and it will be carried nationally on the Big Ten Network. The series continues on Saturday at 2 PM and wraps up on Sunday at 11 AM.
The Huskers enter the weekend winners in 13 of their last 15 games and continue to hold a 1/2 game lead over the Michigan Wolverines (18-7) for the top spot in the league. Nebraska is 12-5 away from Lincoln this season, including a 7-2 record in true road games.
