Newark News & Story Collaborative
The Newark News and Story Collaborative is committed to elevating community-driven storytelling to fill information gaps in local and national media. The Collaborative trains community members in storytelling, media-making, and other creative art forms to share and amplify their experiences. It’s laying the groundwork for a collaborative network that will address longstanding information inequities in Newark, New Jersey. On May 19, New Jersey is poised to take its biggest steps so far to relax the widespread health restrictions officials put in place to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
Fourteen months after its outbreak began, the state will eliminate fixed capacity indoor limits for restaurants, retail businesses, churches, and more, as long as patrons or groups can be kept 6 feet apart. The state will also end all outdoor gathering limits. People will still be required to keep wearing masks in public, as well as outdoors when they can’t practice social distancing.
