ETRMA appoints new members for 2022 | Tire Technology International

Following a meeting of the board of directors, the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) has agreed that from 2022 it will welcome Nexen Tire Europe and the Czech Republic and Slovakia Tire Producers’ Associations as members. Following these additions, ETRMA will represent 15 international tire manufacturers and 11 national sector associations. The board also discussed its commitment to the EU policy objective of a European economic recovery geared to meet the ambitions of the Green Deal. The board also emphasized the importance of a regulatory framework to support the entire industry and its supply chain while continuing to cooperate with European institutions to deliver on EU priorities and create a more competitive industry within Europe.

ECHA eyes microplastics ban, fate of rubber infill in balance Shahrzad Pourriahi Print HELSINKI The European Chemicals Agency is finalizing the draft of a landmark restriction proposal to ban products which have intentionally added microplastics from being placed on the market in the European Union and the European Economic Area. The proposal will be submitted to the European Commission in the coming months and largely based on the opinions of two ECHA committees the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) and the Committee for Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC). Among the materials targeted by the proposal are granular infill materials from end-of-life tires and other synthetic elastomers, which have been classified as intentionally-added microplastics.

During his professional career, Cyr held positions of responsibility for national trade associations including the National Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors; the Rubber Manufacturers’ Association; and the National Glass Association. In 1990, he was named executive vice president of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. In 2003, he was recruited back to the National Glass Association as vice president of Auto Glass, and executive director of the Coalition for Auto Glass Safety & Public Awareness. During his professional career, Cyr held positions of responsibility for national trade associations including the National Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors; the Rubber Manufacturers’ Association; and the National Glass Association. In 1990, he was named executive vice president of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. In 2003, he was recruited back to the National Glass Association as vice president of Auto Glass, and executive director of the Coalition for Auto Glass Safety & Public Awareness. He remained with the NGA until he retired in 2010. After retiring, Cyr and his wife Beth traveled extensively in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Central America. They particularly enjoyed their four African wildlife safaris.
