Rabbani introduces bill to strengthen Senate Top Story April 6, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party’s Senator Mian Raza Rabbani on Monday introduced a Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2021, seeking amendments to various Articles aimed at enhancing powers of the Upper House of the Parliament. The chairman Senate after debate referred the bill to the concerned standing committee for further deliberation. Speaking in the House, Rabbani said various resolutions were passed by this august House to enhance the powers of Senate. He said amendments were proposed in various Articles of the Constitution including 57, 62, 72, 73, 86, 89, 126, 159, 160 and 162, adding it was a very important bill since there was dire need to enhance the powers of Senate.

The accident - the cause of which still remains a mystery - happened between Mundo Dero and Sangi railway stations around half an hour after the train left Rohri station at 1.15am on Saturday night. Ten bogies of the 15-Up Karachi Express, which was carrying passengers from the port city to Lahore, derailed while four of them fell from the elevated track to the ground several feet deep. The bogies included AC and economy coaches.

February 3, 2021 ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said those fleeing abroad do not have courage to tender resignations from the assemblies. Presiding over the federal cabinet meeting here on Tuesday, he said he was ready to resign as premier ‘tomorrow’ if the looters, Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Fazlur Rehman return the looted national wealth. However, in a tit-for-tat reply, Pakistan Muslim League-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz told the premier to be patient and he would come to know soon what resignations mean. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, when asked about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement about tendering resignation during a press briefing on the decisions made at the cabinet meeting, he parried the question, though asked twice.
