There is no sugar-coating, excusing, or explaining away Ravi’s behavior. It was sinful. It was wicked. And, as this report made crystal clear, it was duplicitous. As St. Paul wrote, “There is none righteous, no not one.”
How should Christians respond when one of their most renowned leaders is revealed to have led a disturbing double life? It is a question that many followers of Christ have wrestled with since the inception of the Christian church, and it is one that I am struggling with after learning of the revelations regarding Ravi Zacharias, a world-renowned author, speaker, and leading voice on apologetics.
Every weekend I used to listen to episodes of “Let My People Think” and “Just A Thought,” which featured the lectures, sermons, and teachings of Ravi Zacharias. His recordings were some of my favorites as a Christian who was, and still is, fascinated with biblical theology and apologetics in particular.

In May 2018, the senior leadership of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) gathered together with two more junior employees RZIM’s public relations manager and spokeswoman, my longtime friend Ruth Malhotra, and global media director Nancy Gifford at an offsite conference room for a three day “conciliation” meeting. The group had spent months together serving as an impromptu task force designed to deal with the fallout from claims by a Canadian woman named Lori Anne Thompson that Zacharias, one of the Evangelical world’s most-respected apologists, had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with her. She claimed he’d “groomed” her over a period of months and persuaded her to send him inappropriate pictures, including nudes.
