Russian government approves $1bn loan to Belarus
MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) - The Russian government has approved a draft agreement to grant Belarus a $1 billion loan, TASS reported.
Russia will provide Belarus the $1 billion loan in several tranches.
The Russian prime minister has approved the draft agreement submitted by the Russian Ministry of Finance, coordinated with the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the state development corporation VEB.RF, and agreed with the Government of the Republic of Belarus, to provide a state financial loan to the Government of the Republic of Belarus… Mikhail Mishustin has authorized the Russian Ministry of Finance, the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry and other federal authorities concerned, to hold talks with the Belarusian government and, upon reaching an agreement, to sign the agreement on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation, reads the document published on the legal portal.

The Russian government has approved a draft agreement to provide Belarus with a $1 billion loan in 2020-2021. To approve the draft agreement between the Russian government and the government of The Republic of Belarus, agreed with the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the state development corporation VEB.RF, on granting a state financial loan, reads the document signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
According to the document, Russia will provide Belarus with a loan in two tranches: the first was provided in 2020, the second - in 2021.
At the end of August, Alexander Lukashenko said that Minsk reached an agreement with Moscow on refinancing a $1 billion loan.
