Boxing President Says Reforms in Six Months - Federation Focus 01/20/21

“This year is crucial to AIBA. It is our 75th anniversary. It will become the year of reform and renewal for AIBA,” says the Russian boxing leader in an interview.
“There is a lot of work to do in this time to adopt the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee. This only the beginning of the way. In the next six months we should be able to address all of these reforms,” Kremlev says.

Umar Kremlev, the new President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), has revealed he will waive the representation allowance and any other expenses in his bid to cut costs at the international governing body.
These funds will be used to support boxing veterans instead. During this challenging period for our sport, the boxing community has given me tremendous trust in spearheading the revival of AIBA and ensuring AIBA s return to the Olympic family, said Kremlev. I want to do my best to develop my favourite sport and our organisation. Therefore, I refuse to receive any representational allowance or any finances from AIBA for the Presidential office.

MOSCOW Umar Kremlev, the new president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), plans to implement reforms over the next six months that could help restore its status with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), he told Reuters in an interview.
Elected to head amateur boxing’s governing body earlier this month, Kremlev has the task of implementing sweeping reforms in order for it to be recognized by the IOC in time for the Paris Olympics in 2024.

MOSCOW, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Umar Kremlev, the new president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), plans to implement reforms over the next six months that could help restore its status with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), he told Reuters in an interview.
Elected to head amateur boxing s governing body earlier this month, Kremlev has the task of implementing sweeping reforms in order for it to be recognised by the IOC in time for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
The IOC suspended AIBA last year, stripping it of any involvement in Olympic qualifiers and the tournament at the Tokyo Games over a string of governance, finance and ethical issues.
