The racing will involve mixed-gender teams from the United States, Spain, Britain, Japan, France, Denmark, and Australia – as well as New Zealand’s squad headed by America s Cup and Olympic champions Peter Burling and Blair Tuke. Naval Point in Lyttelton will be the launch area and fan zone for the event, but has long been in neglected condition. Event organisers say it will include spectator stands, food and drink outlets, commentary facilities and a big screen.
