Three dead, three injured in shooting at Rockford bowling alley

ROCKFORD, Ill. - A gunman opened fire inside an Illinois bowling alley, killing three people and injuring three others Saturday night in what authorities believe was a random attack.
A person of interest was taken into custody after the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, Rockford Police Chief Dan O Shea said during a news conference. He said two of those who were shot were teenagers.
O Shea did not immediately release additional information about the victims or the person who was taken into custody. He described the scene as contained and said he did not think any officers fired their weapons while apprehending the person of interest.

Authorities believe the deadly shooting was a completely random act. Police have yet to say why the Florida man was in Illinois.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) A U.S. serviceman from Florida has been charged in an apparently random shooting at an Illinois bowling alley that left three people dead and three wounded, authorities said Sunday.
Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley said Duke Webb, 37, has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder in the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, in Rockford, on Saturday evening. While no bowling is currently allowed due to state-imposed coronavirus restrictions, a bar linked to the business was legally open.
