Rockford man wanted in fatal shooting on Rock Street
ROCKFORD Police are asking for the public’s help locating a man charged in a fatal shooting on the city’s southwest side.
A warrant has been issued charging David Cooper, 31, with first-degree murder for the Sep. 26 fatal shooting of 39-year-old Robert Davis.
Davis was found shot multiple times at the 1500 block of Rock Street. Davis was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Bennie Johnson, 29, of Rockford, was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. Sunday at SwedishAmerican Hospital.
Johnson was shot shortly after 1 p.m. in the 1000 block of Broadway.
Marcus Mayweather, 56, of Rockford, was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m. at Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital.
He was shot about 8 p.m. in the 3600 block of Teal Lane.
The shootings are not related, and no arrests have been made in either case.
ROCKFORD A missing Rockford woman found dead in Gary, Indiana, is a suspected victim of a domestic violence homicide.
Lien Correa-Rios, 42, was reported missing in November. It is unclear when her body was found in Gary.
“This case is another tragic reminder of our never ending battle involving domestic violence in our region,” Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said in a news release. “Our hearts and thoughts go out to the family of Lien Correa-Rios.”
First-degree murder charges have been filed against 40-year-old Brandon Bagnuolo of Poplar Grove, who had a previous relationship with the victim. According to Winnebago County court records, Correa-Rios had obtained an order of protection against Bagnuolo a few weeks before she was reported missing.

ROCKFORD (WREX) Two people are dead after being shot on Sunday and now, the Rockford Police Department has opened two murder investigations.
The first investigation is into a shooting that happened on Broadway around 1 p.m. Sunday. Police say they found a 29-year-old man in the 1000 block of Broadway suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to police.
