On August 25, 2017, the Rockport Art Association lost the place it has called home since 1984.
Much of Rockport suffered major damage following Hurricane Harvey and the Rockport Center for the Arts was no exception.
After the hurricane, insurance determined the organization s original facility was a total loss as it had lost its roof and suffered many other damages.
Nearly four years later, the association has broke ground a brand-new center for the arts in downtown Rockport. The arts are really important here, RCA executive director Luis Purón said. We plan to be a significant force in the arts with our new space.

ROCKPORT, Texas â A historic building known as the Kline Cafe was moved to another part of the historic Rockport downtown district to make room for a new Center for the Arts.
The building which has been in the area since the 1940 s was originally located on the intersection of Austin and North street. It will now be located on St. Mary s street, still in the downtown district.
The building served as several restaurants, a winery, and eventually the Center for the Arts after the original building was destroyed during Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
