COVID-19: Vaccine Appointments For Kids Ages 12 To 15 Now Available In Rockland

Read / Add Comments The Rockland County Department of Health is ready to begin scheduling appointments for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 15 to go get their COVID-19 vaccine. This week, the FDA authorized emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine in children, followed by the CDC recommending that parents go get their children vaccinated. In response, the Department of Health announced that first dose appointments are available for children in that age group to receive their vaccine between 3 pm. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19. Officials said that appointments are “encouraged, but not necessary (and) walk-ins are welcome and will be registered on-site.”

Westchester s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is improving by leaps and bounds County Executive George Latimer said Monday as the region is seeing a sustained slowing in the severity and spread of the coronavirus.  During a Monday afternoon briefing, Latimer lauded the latest COVID-19 numbers with active cases at 3,208 as of Saturday, a dramatic drop in the last week. He attributed the diminution of the disease to more residents receiving the vaccine, which is now open to every adult ages 16 and older in New York.  The improving pandemic situations in Rockland and Putnam counties are similar to Westchester s.  We had seven weeks of decrease, we had two, 2½  weeks where things were kind of static and now they ve been decreasing over the last week and we re very encouraged by that, Latimer said of Westchester.

She had her paperwork in hand. But a worker there said she didn t qualify. Elijah Reichlin-Melnick said that he heard from about a dozen constituents who lived in Rockland but worked in New Jersey schools who had hit a wall when trying to get vaccinated. He introduced legislation to ensure New Yorkers who are essential workers in another state would be eligible for vaccines.
