Pile Up On Congers Road

Update: Clarkstown police have confirmed that the 16-year-old male who was transported to an area hospital following the incident has died from injuries sustained in the crash. A Go Fund Me organized to support the student’s family has already raised over $15,000 at the time of publication. Police have also confirmed Emily Meryreles, the other teenager who was hospitalized after the accident, is in stable condition. Both teens were passengers in a Mitsubishi Lancer, operated by Alan Mendoza, 18. Mendoza and his passengers all attended Clarkstown North High School. He  has been charged  with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Aggravated Vehicular Assault, Manslaughter in the 2nd  degree and Driving While Intoxicated. All the charges are felonies. On Friday, Mendoza was arraigned by Judge Scott Ugell and transported to the county jail.

Two Seriously Injured In Crash Near Area High School

It happened overnight in Rockland County on Congers Road in New City. The Clarkstown Police Department said five people were injured in the crash, which was reported around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 6 in the area of 256 Congers Road, near Clarkstown North High School. Police officers and members of the New City FD, New City Ambulance, and Rockland Paramedics provided medical attention. Two of those injured, who were in the same vehicle, remain hospitalized as of Friday morning, May 7, Clarkstown Police said. One of the drivers has been placed in custody, with charges pending, police said.  Congers Road was closed for several hours overnight, while the crash was being investigated by the Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team.

Two Stabbed, One Arrested Following Melee At Rental Hall In Area

The incident took place around 1 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at the West Nyack Fire Department Rental Hall, located at 42 Strawtown Rd., in West Nyack, when Clarkstown police responded to numerous calls of a fight in the parking lot, said Clarkstown Officer Norman Peters. When police arrived on the scene they found a tumultuous group of approximately 30 people in the parking lot of the rental hall, Peters said. While investigating an officer found a 40-year-old man lying on the ground with severe stab lacerations to his face and neck, Peters said. 

Fatal Head-On Crash Wednesday On Route 202

(Shutterstock) RAMAPO, NY A Spring Valley man died on Route 202 Wednesday in a head-on collision witnessed by the police officer who was trying to pull him over. Ramapo police received a report about an erratic driver travelling from Pomona toward Suffern at about 6 p.m. The responding officer saw the described vehicle, a Toyota Camry, travelling in the southbound lane. The officer turned his vehicle around and pulled up behind the Camry, attempting to make it stop. Moments later, he saw the car cross over the double yellow line and into an oncoming car.

Two Found With Bleeding Neck Wounds On New City Lawn Thursday

(Shutterstock) NEW CITY, NY Clarkstown police are investigating a knife assault Thursday night on Zabella Drive that left two people bleeding on a front lawn. Someone called to report people screaming, police said. Officers arrived at 22 Zabella Drive at 9 p.m. and found a man and a woman lying in the yard of a neighboring home with bleeding neck wounds, police said. Officers administered life-saving medical aid to the two injured parties until Nanuet Ambulance and Rockland Paramedics arrived, police said. The victims were transported by Nanuet Ambulance to Montefiore Nyack Hospital, police said. Their identities are being withheld pending notification to their families, police said.
