A Gladstone childcare worker is suing national company Goodstart Early Learning for an injury sustained while on the job. VAJ Byrne and Co Lawyers Gladstone has filed the lawsuit on behalf of Paula Masters, 49, to the Rockhampton Supreme Court. The court documents do not state where the childcare centre was located and VAJ Byrne and Co Lawyers declined to comment, however Ms Masters is registered to a Calliope address. Ms Masters was employed as an early learning educator with the company. The incident occurred on April 24, 2017 when Ms Masters was lifting a toddler onto the change table station. The court claim details as a result of this, Ms Masters suffered a lower back injury and a disc protrusion which required surgery.

Subscriber only A WOMAN is suing a long-time Cairns tourism operator for nearly $2m in damages, claiming her cruise to Fitzroy Island was so rough she was thrown around numerous times, causing injuries to her spine, pelvis, genitals and jaw. In a statement lodged with the Rockhampton Supreme Court last December, Diane Trudy Hayers, 57, also claims the incident with Raging Thunder left her with double vision and visual disturbance . Ms Hayers is suing the company for $1.93m in damages that includes past and potential future income losses, special damages and medical and ongoing care expenses.

A Townsville Airport worker has filed a lawsuit for more than $1 million after she was injured on the tarmac.
The workplace injury lawsuit was filed to the Rockhampton Supreme Court this month by Ingham’s Roati Legal.
Holly Johnstone, who is registered to an address in Western Australia, 35, was employed as customer service officer/manager as ground staff at Townsville Airport.
The claim is to be served on Aviation Fuel Services, that provided aircraft refuelling services at the airport.
Ms Johnstone was injured in an accident on May 7, 2017.
She was marshalling passengers boarding an aircraft which was parked on the tarmac at the airport.

Subscriber only A power station worker is suing for $750,000 after his fingers were crushed and burned in a workplace accident at Biloela in 2018. Wade Watson, 32, has filed the lawsuit to the Rockhampton Supreme Court this month for personal injuries as a result of negligence against DHM Plant Services. Mr Watson was employed to work at CS Energy s Callide B Power Station, Biloela, as a scaffolder and boilermaker s trade assistant. The accident occurred on November 2, 2018, when Mr Watson was working with a team of four to remove a worn air heater. The court document stated as the strap sprung back, it trapped Mr Watsons index and middle fingers against the hot metal from the recently welded stiffener brackets.
