Prepared to be dazzled by song and dance at Broadway & Beyond

Featuring many of the Central Queensland region’s finest singers, dancers and musicians, Broadway and Beyond is a celebration of musical theatre, cabaret, rock, pop and jazz; culminating in a two-hour, high energy live show of dazzling song and dance. Maddi McDonald will perform in Broadway and Beyond next month. Since its inception in 2018, the show has quickly become one of the most anticipated and fast growing productions in Central Queensland. This year’s production features a new show, hot off the heels of last year’s sold out production.

The proposed wind farms will be located north of Kalapa, between Westwood and Mount Morgan, and in the vicinity of the Mount Hopeful television transmitter station. Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said the building of these new facilities will give the Rockhampton region the opportunity to play an important part in the generation of renewable energy. “Since the construction of the Stanwell Power Station in 1996, electricity generation has been one of the strengths in our region,” Mayor Williams said.

New budget, executive revealed as CQ councils band together

Premium Content Subscriber only A new budget and executive has been established for the recently constituted Central Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils. More than $190,000 will be shared between Banana, Central Highlands, Gladstone, Livingstone, Rockhampton and Woorabinda Aboriginal councils to fund activities up until the next financial year. CQROC was established last September after Gladstone Regional Council voted to work with other councils to enhance Central Queensland s economic growth, social capacity and environmental sustainability. The entity was formed following the winding up of the Central Queensland Local Government Association in 2013. In Tuesday s general meeting, Gladstone Regional Council voted unanimously on the established budget between councils.

CQ politicians call on defence industry to commit to Rocky

Premium Content Subscriber only Central Queensland politicians are calling on the Department of Defence to commit to the Rockhampton and Livingstone regions long-term. In Senate Estimates in late March, Mr Canavan questioned Estate and Infrastructure Deputy Secretary Steve Grzeskowiak about plans regarding the Australia Singapore Military Training Initiative. He asked about a military storage facility to be built in Townsville by 2025, and what that meant for the current storage at Rockhampton Airport. “My understanding is that that will remain, certainly for the time being, but I’d have to take on notice what the very longer-term plans for that facility are,” Mr Grzeskowiak said.
