NEW DELHI: The capital will witness a dry run for Covid-19 vaccine administration at three sites on Saturday along with all states and Union territories.
The central government has asked for the exercise to gear up for the rollout of the vaccine. It has directed that the dry run should be conducted in all capitals in at least three sites. In Delhi, the sites were chosen in three different districts after a meeting of the health department.
The sites are Venkateshwara Hospital in South West district, the Daryaganj dispensary in Central district and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Shahdara district. For each site, the medical officer in-charge will identify 25 healthcare workers who will be test beneficiaries. The data of these beneficiaries are already uploaded in the Co-WIN application.
Four Covid regional stores have been earmarked in Karnal in Haryana, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata for onward distribution of the vaccine among states and Union territories, mostly by road. Delhis vaccine storage points being in the vicinity of the airport is expected to save time in the delivery process.

This is a conditional approval that entails that every recipient of the vaccine shall be given a factsheet about the vaccine prior to inoculation. The company has been asked to submit reports on adverse events every fortnight. Two full doses of Covishield will be given to every recipient within a gap of 4-6 weeks. The DCGI is going to give marketing approval within a day or two.

The national capital’s first Covid-19 vaccination centre is ready. According to the guidelines of the Union health ministry, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has set up Delhi’s first and model Covid-19 vaccination centre in a maternity home in Srinivaspuri area of South Delhi. The authorities plan to set up at least 1,000 such vaccination sites across the city.
