3,000-5,000 modular ICU beds being prepared
Karnataka is setting up a special task force in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to fight the COVID-19 second wave.
The task force will explore ways to quickly augment medical and non-medical infrastructure, including a massive call centre and modular ICU units, to manage the virus attack and contain its spread more effectively.
According to Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education K. Sudhakar, the State government is also planning to set up modular ICU units to address the rising demand for ICU beds.
Biker collides with 6-year-old
A six-year-old boy sustained multiple fractures to his leg after a
biker rammed into him while trying to ‘impress’ women. The incident happened in Maruthi Nagar, near Byadrahalli, on Monday.
The accused yet to be identified by the police was allegedly riding his
bike rashly to impress women returning from work from a garment factory nearby, victim’s father
Nagaraju told Bangalore Mirror.
The victim,
Shivu, sustained multiple fractures to his right leg, face, hands and he requires surgeries. He is currently admitted to the
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
The accident happened around 9.30 pm when Shivu was standing with his bicycle close to the gate of his house on Mahadeshwaranagar Main Road in Maruthi Nagar.

BENGALURU: The Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has put forward 16 points of advice for the State government to handle the current spike in cases, one of them being enforcement of Section 144 in areas of public congregation, like markets.TAC Chairman Dr M K Sudarshan said the idea behind this recommendation is to prevent crowding and curb the spread of the virus. Restrictions can be enforced in commercial spaces based on local epidemiology of the disease, and expert recommendations to arrest the outbreak.

The Health Minister attended an event on Wednesday at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on the occasion of World Health Day. Everyone on this planet has a right to avail quality health care irrespective of caste and creed. It is a fundamental right of every human-like water and shelter. We are working in line with this vision to develop basic infrastructure in health sector. As per WHO physical, mental and social well being is health, we need to concentrate on this, he said in a statement.
