Covid-19: Delhi gets more than 11,000 beds in private hospitals
The Delhi government has notified 19 private hospitals where 80 per cent of ICU beds are to be reserved for Covid patients, 82 private hospitals with 60 per cent reservation and 101 private hospitals where 60 per cent ward beds are to be reserved for Covid treatment.
The 101 hospitals where 60 per cent beds will be reserved for Covid patients include leading names such as St Stephens Hospital, Max East/West Block, Batra Hospital, HAHC Hospital, BLK Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, Max SS Hospital, Patparganj; Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Okhla, Indian Spinal Injury Centre, Vasant Kunj, Dharamshila Narayana Hospital, Shanti Mukand Hospital, Fortis SS Hospital, Vasant Kunj, Shree Agrasain International Hospital, Madhukar Rainbow Children Hospital, Primus Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi Heart and Lung Institute, among others.

New Delhi, Mar 11 (IANS): The importance of early health screening in cancer is twofold, as detecting cancer in the initial stages for better treatment outcomes, and screening is also helpful in risk assessment and risk reduction through counselling, says Dr Indu Aggarwal, Head of Department, Preventive Oncology at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre (RGCIRC). Some cancers including Oral cancer and Cervical cancer are preventable since these can be detected at a pre-cancerous stage through screening. Other cancers like Breast cancer are easily detectable at an early stage through screening so treatment is far more successful. New Delhi, Feb 4 : The Covid-19 pandemic has taken a toll on timely diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, and preventive care for ailments like cancer is one of the worst hit.
However, since the cases of Covid-19 have started to subside gradually, the need for awareness among the patients has multiplied. In lieu of it, the hospitals have geared up to start awareness campaigns to draw patients attention back on cancer treatment.
Suresh Kumar, Director at Delhi s Lok Nayak Hospital, told IANS that the hospital will start an awareness campaign specifically for cancer patients.
