KOLKATA: Four members of the 26-member bar council of West Bengal on Sunday wrote to CJI NV Ramana, saying the council chairperson’s letter seeking removal of the Calcutta HC’s acting chief justice Rajesh Bindal was “contemptuous and derisive” and “by no figment of imagination represents the sentiments of the majority of the members of the bar”.
Registering their “dissent”, in a strongly-worded rebuttal, the four members argued: “The contents of the letter were neither discussed as an agenda in any meeting of the council, nor we were aware about it until unless through some social media posts.” The letter dubbed the contents as “highly derogatory, bereft of truth or merits and a token attempt to please the greed of the political bosses of ruling dispensation”.
