An iconic Stratford attraction, the ArcelorMittal Orbit and Slide, is set to reopen.
As the country enters step three of the government s roadmap out of lockdown, the UK’s tallest sculpture will welcome back visitors to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP) from Friday, May 21, with Covid-secure measures in place.

Visitors can take in views of QEOP and London and learn more about its famous landmarks using interactive screens.
Architect 5
th Studio has been appointed to lead an urban design framework to improve the area around Stratford station in east London.
The scale of transformation needed is said to be similar to what has been seen at King’s Cross and London Bridge.

Passenger numbers at the station have trebled in a decade
The architecture and spatial planning practice will lead a multi-disciplinary design and planning team consisting of Expedition Engineering, Momentum Transport, Turner & Townsend and Giorgia Sharpe with Thomas Matthews to develop a vision and urban design framework.
The £300,000 contract was awarded by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) through a competitive tender via the GLA’s ADUP II framework. The LLDC is working in partnership with Network Rail, Newham council and Transport for London
Stratford Station was named Network Rail s seventh busiest in the UK in 2019.

The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) is leading on procurement for the revamp of Stratford Station, and has teamed up with Network Rail, Transport for London (TfL) and Newham Council for the project.
To get things rolling, LLDC has awarded architects 5th Studio a £300,000 contract to come up with ideas to secure the station s long-term future.
Stratford Station s connection to the town centre and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park forms part of the focus of the transport hub s revamp, with ways of making the station more accessible and passenger-friendly also being considered.
