‘I’m just so thankful’: 9-year-old Alabama boy pulls little sister to safety during carjacking

A young Moody boy is being lauded for his bravery after he pulled his sister to safety during an armed carjacking on Thursday.
The ordeal began about 1:30 p.m. when Kristin Walker was putting gas into her vehicle in the area of U.S. 411 and Interstate 20. Her two small children – 9-year-old Ethan and 6-year-old daughter Audrey – were in the back seat. At that point, a man got out of a Chevrolet SUV which had been parked at a pump near the victim and jumped into the driver’s seat of the woman’s vehicle.

ST. CLAIR Co., Ala. (WBRC) - A 9-year-old boy is a hero after he pulled his sister out of a car while his mom was being robbed at gunpoint in Moody.
Moody Police officers said a woman was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday, January 7 as she finished pumping gas in the area of U.S. Hwy 411 and I-20.
Her two small children were in the backseat. Officers said as the mother stood outside her vehicle, 18-year-old Kendarian Toran of Jackson, MS exited a maroon Chevy SUV which had been parked at the pumps opposite the victim. Investigators said he then jumped into the driver’s seat of her vehicle.

Update @ 6:22 p.m.: Deputies have caught the man accused of shooting another man at a home in Brandon Monday.
Paul Holley, legal counsel for the Rankin County Sheriff s Office, said 18-year-old Deshawn Douglas was arrested at a Regions Bank on Spann Drive in Brandon shortly after 6 p.m.
There is no word yet on what charges Douglas will face.
