200k Doses Of Chinese COVID Vaccine Arrive In Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe received on Monday its first delivery of China s COVID-19 vaccine, Sinopharm.
The plane carrying the vaccines arrived at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
The southern African country s first vaccines will be 200,000 doses of the vaccine donated by the Chinese government, while another 600,000 doses of the same vaccine have been purchased by the government and will arrive early next month, the state-run Sunday Mail reported.
Frontline workers such as health professionals and immigration agents working at borders will get first priority for the vaccines, according to a government rollout plan.

Zimbabwe has received its first COVID-19 vaccines with the arrival early yesterday of an Air Zimbabwe jet carrying 200,000 Sinopharm doses from China.
It is one of China’s first shipments of vaccines to Africa, after deliveries to Egypt and Equatorial Guinea.
The first Sinopharm vaccines are a donation from China to the southern African country.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnanagagwa’s government has purchased an additional 600,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine that are expected to arrive early next month, state media reported.
Rwandair Suspends Flights To 3 Countries In The South Of Africa

The national flag carrier of the Republic of Rwanda, RwandAir, has suspended flights to three counties in Southern Africa over concerns about a more contagious strain of the coronavirus called B.1.351 or 501.V2. The new South African strain, as it is more widely known, appears to be more resilient to current COVID-19 vaccines. This has raised concerns that people who have already had COVID-19 could become infected again.

According to a statement released yesterday, RwandAir has suspended flights from Kigali International Airport (KGL) to the following destinations in Southern Africa:

Acting Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira said the late diplomat, who was posted to the UAE in 2019, died at a Harare hospital following a short illness.
“The late Ambassador Ndlovu died at a local hospital in Harare after a short illness,” said Prof Murwira in statement.
“Details of funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.”
In 1984, he joined the Air Force of Zimbabwe Aeronautical Inspection Services as a vibration and balancing inspector.
He was later promoted to Officer Commanding Aircraft Servicing Squadron as a maintenance manager at Thornhill Air Force Base in 1986. He rose through the ranks to become quality assurance chief aeronautical inspector in 1996. He had a short stint at Northland Engineering and Falcon Air, where he worked as a technical manager and general manager respectively between 1996 and 1998.
