Interviewing for a job can be nerve-racking and stressful for anyone, especially for a young adult trying to get their first one. But the Confidence Foundation, a mentorship organization based on the South Side, is trying to give young men and women the proper tools to set them up for success.
The foundation hosted an interview workshop for about 20 high school juniors and seniors and first-year college students Wednesday evening at the Tesla dealership in Gold Coast. It was the first of what the organization’s co-founder Robin Harris hopes to be many of these events.
During the two-hour event, the young men and women learned the best practices for interviewing, from what to say when you don’t know the answer to a question to what to wear.
County commissioners approve lease, grants

GALLIPOLIS The Gallia County Board of Commissioners recently approved the minutes from the May 6 meeting where they discussed an agreement for the county jail project.
Commissioners approved a lease agreement with Granger Construction for the jail project. The agreement states the lease is $1,200 per month from May 1, 2021 through Aug. 15, 2022.
During the meeting, commissioners approved travel requests for Sherry Daines and Tim Miller to Logan for the Ohio EMA Sector Meeting and Elisha Orsbon to Bellefontaine for OhioSE/Small Nations.
The weekly canine shelter report was given for the week ending in May 2. Eleven animals came into the shelter, 11 were sent to rescue, two were reclaimed, and six remain at the shelter.

DALLAS As days of rain have soaked North Texas, the newly renovated South Oak Cliff High School is dealing with leaking ceilings and pipes.
In the school s reopening in January 2020, students marveled at the $52 million top-to-bottom renovations at the school.
