Melbourne-based private property development group Riverlee collaborated with the City of Whittlesea and government agencies to help fast-track various permits for their $2-billion mixed-use development, New Epping.
With the Victorian Government’s Building Victoria Recovery Taskforce (BVRT) fast-tracking the approvals due to the project’s significant community benefit and employment opportunities, works amounting to $194 million have been green-lighted.
These include a private hospital to be operated by one of the world’s largest private healthcare operators, Ramsay Health Care as well as 151 affordable housing apartments, alongside key supporting infrastructure. Together, these approved works will deliver on key state and local government policies, including affordable housing and healthcare, and will also create 720 construction jobs and 220 ongoing jobs, helping revitalise the local economy.

Ramsay Health Care to build $133m private hospital in Melbourne’s north
Ramsay Health Care has committed to constructing and operating a new $133m greenfield private hospital in Victoria to service one of the fastest growing populations in Australia.
Northern Private Hospital will be built in Epping, which is the last major growth corridor in Victoria without a private hospital. It will be co-located with a 500-bed public hospital to ensure patients have access to a comprehensive range of health care services.
Northern Private Hospital will be built on land adjacent to the Northern Hospital, which has one of the busiest emergency departments in the state and is itself undergoing a major rebuilding and refurbishment project.

Hollywood Private Hospital has launched a new cardiothoracic service that gives patients in Western Australia greater access to life-saving bypass and valve replacement surgery.
The Perth hospital, backed by owner Ramsay Health Care Australia’s 25 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery, has begun offering procedures at its new multi-million-dollar, purpose-built theatre.
The facility boasts state-of-the-art technology, including an advanced cardiac monitoring system and a device that rapidly analyses patients’ blood to ensure they receive the best treatment in the timeliest fashion.
Hollywood Private CEO Peter Mott said the upgraded service moves the hospital towards delivering a comprehensive facility for heart health, which will be completed when its new emergency department opens in 2021.
