A GROUP of travellers who dumped a gas canister and rubbish before fleeing a Romsey leisure centre have been criticised by Test Valley leaders. Police were alerted to the unauthorised encampment at 8.45pm on Wednesday (March 10) after they were spotted at Romsey Rapids Sports Complex, Southampton Road. It is believed seven caravans were onsite. Deputy leader of Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC), councillor Nick Adams-King, revealed a gas canister and a small amount of rubbish were discarded by the group before they left on Saturday morning (March 13). He said: We [TVBC] got an injunction on Friday afternoon at Southampton Magistrates Court, so the bailiffs were booked to move them on Saturday afternoon, but they left of their own accord at 11am on Saturday.
