PETALING JAYA: Amid rampant fake news and uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic which has enveloped the world for over a year now, Malaysians have continued to turn to The Star as a source of credible news.
This is proven after an annual worldwide study of news trends ranked The Star as the top English-language news portal in brand trust scores in Malaysia among surveyed brands.
The Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2021, its 10th annual edition, found when it comes to brand trust scores in Malaysia, news channel Astro Awani and The Star scored 70% and 65% respectively.
Prof Zaharom Nain of the Centre for the Study of Communications and Culture, University of Nottingham Malaysia, noted in the report that overall trust in the various media had increased considerably compared with the past two years.
