Temperatures will likely hover at or just above freezing and allow some plain rain during the day, but the main event for freezing rain is projected for the Wednesday night and early Thursday morning timeframe, when it will be plenty cold to freeze.
The coldest air in over two years will move in late in the week, with Shanklin saying a wind chill advisory will likely be needed for at least part of the weekend, as wind chill values will go below zero.

Western Kentucky will likely see rain and perhaps a little snow in the next few days before some of the coldest air of the winter moves in this weekend.
During the weekly National Weather Service in Paducah conference call Monday morning, Meteorologist Rick Shanklin said the area can expect about a half-inch of rain Thursday and there could be a small amount of snow Saturday night as an Arctic cold front plunges south.
High temperatures Sunday will be in the lower 20’s likely the coldest day since Christmas.
The eight to 14 day outlook is also showing colder than normal temperatures and less than normal precipitation.

Western Kentucky residents can expect calm and chilly weather this week, with no significant precipitation in the forecast.
