UK looks to enroll post-secondary students in COVID-19 study

View Comments The University of Kentucky is looking to enroll post-secondary students between the ages of 18 and 26 for a study that will look at whether people can pass on COVID-19 to others after being vaccinated with Moderna.  Students can be from any postsecondary institution, UK said, including colleges, trade schools, technical schools, and online education. NOTHING BUT THE TOOTH: New dentists give patient conflicting diagnoses

Dr. Richard Greenberg Special to Wicked Local Q. I was wondering if you could help me in general with a quandary I am in. I had wonderful experiences up to last year with the two different dentists I had until my last one sadly died. The dentist who replaced him at his office told me last July that I had three cavities, even though in January I had been given a clean bill of health with the same X-rays by my former dentist. I went to another dentist that told me I had no cavities except for a small one that the other dentist hadn t even seen. He was willing to fill it but because of insurance I could not continue to see that dentist. I found another dentist who agreed there was a problem with tooth 30, but that it was a resorption, probably due to braces when I was young. She referred me to an endodontist who took 3D X-rays and told me I needed the tooth extracted and an implant done! It doesn t hurt, but one can see a small hole on the outside of the tooth.  It s not sensit

Dentist gives advice on getting a new crown

Dr. Richard Greenberg Q. My question pertains to crowns. I recently had a first visit with a new dentist (my previous dentist retired) who recommended a crown for an upper molar with a large filling that composes three sides of the tooth and is showing signs of wear. He said he could do everything in one appointment of about two hours. I have had several crowns over the past 20 years and have always needed to return for a second visit to put the permanent crown on. Are both methods equally safe and effective?  K.C. A. You pose a very interesting question. Remember that you are being answered by someone who is definitely affected with very obsessive-compulsive behavior. By that I mean that I, personally, desire everything done by the book and to change anything in my book on “How to deliver dental care” takes a great deal of time and evidence.
