Kiwis have reacted with relief after it was announced Auckland will move to alert level 1 at midnight on Monday. Auckland was put into a three-day-long level 3 lockdown last Sunday after three cases of COVID-19 were found in the community. A total of eight cases are connected to this outbreak, the most recent of which was announced earlier on Monday before the alert level announcement. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says she is not at all concerned about the latest community case because of its connection to the original cluster.

Source: Auckland Council Coastal hazards such as erosion and flooding pose a very real risk to coastal communities around Tāmaki Makaurau/ Auckland. The impacts of coastal erosion and other coastal hazards will be influenced by our changing climate, including the effects of sea-level rise, and the decisions we make as Tāmaki Makaurau continues to grow. To better understand the potential impacts of coastal erosion, Auckland Council has released a new report, ‘ Predicting Auckland’s Exposure to Coastal Instability and Erosion’ that assesses the areas of Auckland that are susceptible to coastal erosion and cliff instability. The report explains the methodology used in a scientific study to estimate erosion rates for Auckland’s beaches and cliffs and includes regional-scale maps that identify which of Auckland’s coastal areas may be susceptible to coastal erosion and instability over a range of time periods.

(File photo) Auckland Transport is investigating a social media post by a member of management about gay conversion therapy, which has sparked anger and allegations of transphobia from a council employee. On Tuesday night, AT’s Stephen Rainbow replied to a post in the Rainbow Auckland Networking Group on Facebook. The post was calling for people to sign a petition to ban gay conversion therapy. Rainbow’s reply said: “be careful.there’s some elements of the trans agenda being sneakily promoted through this campaign”.
