(OLNEY) The Richland County TB & Health Office is thanking everyone for the success of yesterday’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Olney. With over 400 shots administered, a “thank you” goes out to all the many volunteers and businesses that helped out, from providing lunch, drinks, and the much-needed assistance. (OLNEY/NEWTON) The Richland County TB & Health Office and the Jasper County Health Department successfully conducted their respective COVID-19 vaccination clinics yesterday and last night in both Olney and Newton. According to the IDPH vaccination database, as of yesterday, there have been 1,187 people of the 15,763 population in Richland County to receive the initial COVID-19 shot, with 318 people that have been fully vaccinated with two shots. In Jasper County, there have been 880 initial vaccinations of the 9,611 county population, with 100 people that have been fully vaccinated. Richland County is among only a handful of counties that have had at least 2 percent of its population fully vaccinated while Jasper County is among the majority at a little over 1 percent. (OLNEY/NEWTON) The Richland County TB & Health Office in Olney and the Jasper County Health Department in Newton are now working to develop plans to maximize the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccinations as the state moves to Phase 1B of the distribution next week. Both offices are asking the public to be patient with the process. Depending on when the vaccine arrives, the two offices will be scheduling clinics accordingly with priority given to certain categories of those on the Phase 1B list. Appointments will be required for both doses of COVID-19 vaccines and the limited vaccination tickets will be available online ONLY with advanced online appointment scheduling. Walk-in shots will not be offered.
