Police: Human remains found in SC city

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) A coroner’s office in South Carolina will conduct a forensic exam Wednesday of remains found in a Columbia neighborhood.
The remains were found around 4 p.m. Monday, the Columbia Police Department said. The remains appear to be that of a man, Coroner Gary Watts said, WIS-TV reported.
An anthropologist has been called to help the Richland County Coroner’s Office with the exam.
Colton Triplett said he saw a skeletal torso and a skull while walking with a friend who owns property in the area and another friend who happens to be a police officer with Columbia Police.
OLNEY â An accident at 7:49 p.m. Saturday claimed the lives of DeAnn Richardson, 48, and Judy L. Jourdan, 69, both of Olney, reports Illinois State Police District 12.
According to the accident report, Michael W. Mattox, 60 of Dundas, was westbound on West North Avenue approaching South West Street driving a black 2020 Chevrolet Silverado when he proceeded through the intersection, ran off the roadway on the northwest corner and struck the outdoor patio portion of the Deuceâs Wild Saloon, striking Richardson and Jourdan where they were standing.
Richardson and Jourdan were pronounced dead at the scene by the Richland County Coronerâs Office.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Police say a citizen alerted them to human remains in the Rosewood neighborhood of Columbia.
A person found the remains around 4 p.m. Monday in a wooded area along Mikell Lane off S. Beltline Boulevard, the Columbia Police Department confirmed. That’s just south of Rosewood Drive, near Gills Creek.
The remains appear to be that of a man, Coroner Gary Watts said.
An anthropologist has been called to help the Richland County Coroner’s Office with a forensic exam of the remains. That’s scheduled for Wednesday morning, officials said.
A vehicle allegedly operated by Michael W. Mattox, 60-year-old male of Dundas, IL, while under the influence and without a valid drivers license, ran off the roadway and mowed two female customers down as they were standing on the patio of the Deuce s Wild Saloon in Olney, Illinois Saturday night.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael W. Mattox, 60, of Dundas, was traveling westbound on West North Avenue approaching South West Street in Olney, IL. The vehicle proceeded through the intersection and ran off roadway on the northwest corner where it struck the outdoor patio portion of the Deuceâs Wild Saloon, according to police. Two female pedestrians standing on the patio were struck by the vehicle and were pronounced deceased on scene by the Richland County Coronerâs Office. They are DeAnn C. Richardson, 48, of Olney, and Judy L. Jourdan, 69, o9f Olney.
