More than 300 N.J. school districts are fully in-person as school year winds down

The number of school districts that are fully in-person has gone above 300 districts for the first time this school year, nearly matching the number of schools that were fully remote at the peak of the second wave.
As of May 10, 416 school districts were hybrid, 13 were remote and 338 were fully in-person the seventh week in a row the number of in-person districts increased. Forty-four districts have different educational formats for different schools.

Suzanne Cooper was named senior vice president of power services at the Bonneville Power Administration. She previously was vice president of bulk marketing since 2011. Cooper succeeds Joel Cook, who was promoted to chief operating officer. Cooper will be responsible for BPA’s power scheduling functions, energy efficiency and business relationships with 142 retail utility customers. As chief operating officer, Cook is responsible for the agency’s power and transmission services, as well as its environment, fish and wildlife and customer support services organizations. Cooper has been a member of the agency’s power services management team for 17 years.

Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Clark County Councilor Temple Lentz to state Board of Health on March 22, with the term ending July 1. She also was appointed to the state’s Affordable Housing Advisory Board in February. The board of health advises the state secretary on health policy issues.
Florida-based restaurant chain Firehouse Subs recently gave Maryellen Mech and Terrie Wagie an Axe Award for Area Representatives of the Year. The two oversee 24 Firehouse Subs restaurants in Portland, Southwest Washington, Eugene, Seattle, Spokane and other locations in the Pacific Northwest. They also own the Firehouse Subs Mill Plain Crossing location at 19151 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. The award recognizes the highest-performing area representatives in their regions.

High school students in three Clark County districts will soon be back in their classrooms for the first time in almost one full year.
Evergreen Public Schools, the county’s largest school district, announced Friday it plans to welcome students in grades nine to 12 for twice-a-week in-person instruction as soon as March 4 as long as COVID-19 cases are at 200 or fewer per 100,000 population by Tuesday.

Vancouver Public Schools will have no in-person or remote learning Tuesday because of lingering snow and ice on side streets and in school parking lots. All after-school and evening activities, including sports practices and games, in-person learning support and grab-and-go meals also are canceled.
Also, the Camas School District announced late Monday afternoon there would be no school Tuesday.
Evergreen Public Schools announced all classes Tuesday will be held remotely because of lingering wintry conditions. The district will have no services at schools, including no meal services or bus transportation.
