Three schoolchildren, including a 13-year-old girl, have appeared in court charged with the murder of a 13-year-old autistic boy.
Oliver Stephens was stabbed to death in a field close to his home in Emmer Green, Reading on Sunday afternoon.
The victim, who was known to his friends and family as Olly, was pronounced dead at the scene in Bugs Bottom Fields at around 4pm.
Two boys, aged 13 and 14 and a 13-year-old girl have been charged with murder and other offences in connection with the killing.
All three appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning to face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit grevious bodily harm.

The case against Callum Peter Hawkins will now go to trial.
Twenty-five-year-old Mr Hawkins, of Newtown Road in Newbury, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 22 last year.
There, he denied causing the woman, Kim Purdey, to fear that immediate unlawful violence would be used against her in Newbury on Wednesday, September 9 last year.
Mr Hawkins was also charged with harassing Ms Purdey and putting her in fear of violence by telling her “I’m going to slice you up and I’m going to smash your head in on the same occasion, but this was withdrawn by the prosecution.

Three teenagers have appeared in court over the death of an autistic 13-year-old boy in Reading.
Oliver Stephens, known as Olly, died at the scene at Bugs Bottom fields, Emmer Green, on Sunday.
A 13-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of their ages, appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning charged with murder and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
The girl was also charged with perverting the course of justice.
The three, all from Reading, spoke in court only to confirm their names, ages and addresses.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 8, was Tom Leahy.
The 22-year-old, of Tamworth Drive, denied assaulting Henrietta Kilminster by beating her in Thatcham on Saturday, May 2.
But magistrates did not believe his account and convicted him following a trial.
They ordered pre-sentence reports to be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.

A MOTHER has had to appear in court after two of her children failed to attend school regularly.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 13, was Samantha Holmes.
The 32-year-old, of Three Firs Way, Burghfield Common, admitted being the parent of two children who failed to attend regularly at The Willink School in Burghfield Common between January 3 and March 16.
The case was brought by West Berkshire Council.
Ms Holmes was made subject to a 12-month conditional discharge.
No order for costs was made but she was ordered to pay a statutory victim services surcharge of £21.
