A Jan. 31 letter refers to the Pennsylvania COVID vaccine dose mentioned in an earlier article. If we have only used 50% of the doses that we have on hand, why is Gov. Tom Wolf stating that supply is a problem?
Why isn’t he and/or the newspaper explaining this to the public?
The Pennsylvania dose issue seems to fall in line with the situation in many other states that also have used only 50% of their doses. Can the newspaper write an article explaining this dosage availability or lack thereof and why there is a “supply problem” when we seem to have an excess of doses?
The challenge now is getting it.
Thousands more now qualify in the first priority group for vaccine distribution, under new federal recommendations adopted by the state, said Cindy Findley, Pennsylvania Deputy Secretary of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.

With the changes, 3.5 million Pennsylvanians now qualify, yet the state received 1 million doses of the vaccine so far, according to state figures. Those 65 and older 2.4 million Pennsylvanians make up the largest category
As of now, there is no one clinic, hospital or pharmacy where people can show up without an appointment to get a vaccine. Despite Tuesday s announcement expanding the pool of eligible recipients, the supply remains extremely limited and is not yet widely available for the general public.
