REGINA The Tiki Room has been part of Regina’s skateboarding culture for 25 years and now it’s seeing a surge in popularity of the sport. Noel Wendt was working at another shop before he opened the Tiki Room in May of 1996. He noticed a growing demand for skateboards, so decided it was time to launch a store dedicated to selling them. “I had been skateboarding for a number of years at that point. I had been working for a retail store called World of Trout here in town,” Wendt said. “We started selling skateboards just out of the back of that space and it just grew to the point where it needed its own identity.”

Plans are in place to allow for students and a limited number of guests to participate in the ceremony, with the hope being every student can join in on the celebration.

Things are starting to feel a bit more normal at Evraz Place.
The province recently unveiled its roadmap to reopening, a staged approach that sets goals for the province to start loosening restrictions put in place due to COVID-19.
Regina Exhibition Association Limited CEO Tim Reid said the plan gives Evraz Place officials something to look forward to: A possible return to in-person events.
“It certainly suggested our opportunity to systematically progress towards returning to our regular business looks much more positive than it did a few months ago,” Reid said. “It really allows us to start getting back to our traditional business.
REGINA The success of the health protocols at Regina’s East Division WHL Hub could help bring more big events to the city, according to the head of Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL). Together with the Regina Pats, REAL successfully hosted seven teams in Regina’s WHL hub. Over two months, the league conducted 1,930 COVID-19 tests. Not a single test came back positive, making the East Division the only WHL division without a positive COVID-19 case. “We have an incredibly competitive position because we point to the fact that we’ve done this, we’ve done this safely and we understand what reopening of events look like,” Tim Reid, CEO and president of REAL said.

Evraz Place is preparing to not only host football games this summer, but also the return of one of Regina’s biggest parties of the summer.
Regina Exhibition Association Limited CEO Tim Reid joined the Green Zone on Thursday to discuss summer events at Evraz Place.
While Saskatchewan Roughriders fans were excited to hear Aug. 5 as a possible start date for the CFL, Reid says that date could also mark the return of the Queen City Ex.
“We’re cautious that it’s going to look different or may have to look different but I think the Fifth of August is realistic. That being said, it could change next week but that seems to be the plan,” Reid said.
