What does the evidence say about conversion therapy
In light of Saskatoon’s recent ban, let’s review
CW: homophobia, transphobia, mental health struggles, suicide
A key aspect of scientific study, understanding, and practice in quite literally any field is willingness to adjust current methods when evidence from valid scientific research suggests there’s a better way for things to be done, or that current methods cause more harm than good. Adhering to this method is usually to the benefit of the field itself, and to those who benefit from the work of said field.
This is fairly easy to observe in areas like agriculture; once upon a time it was the norm to yolk your ox and plow a field by hand in order to feed yourself and your family, but with technological advancements we can now feed millions of people through the work of thousands. Another example would be plumbing; rather than having sewage waste run through the streets or exclusively using outhouses, we now have toilets
REGINA Regina Mayor Sandra Masters says she would like the City of Regina to follow in the Saskatoon s footsteps and ban the practice of conversion therapy. Masters made the comments after Thursday s special city council meeting regarding an application about the historic Cook House. I would be in favour of a ban, Masters said. We have a lovely new committee called Community Wellness Committee, this is exactly the issue that should go before this committee. They should review it hear from delegates on both sides of the argument, and then make a recommendation and into council. That is a place to be heard before council, and I would welcome that topic to come forward.
Grand Coulee concerned about potential loss of YQR air traffic control tower By Josh Sigurdson

The Fire Chief for Grand Coulee is one of many people raising concern over the possibility of losing the Regina International Airport’s air traffic control tower.
Jim Pratt says air traffic is a serious concern for Grand Coulee.
“With planes taking off and landing directly over us, if we don’t have proper controls, especially with civilian flights and commercial flights verging together, it could put us in the crosshairs of a very dangerous situation,” said Pratt.
Pratt says planes will sometimes fly so close to the town, residents can see landing gear come down ahead of the tarmac in Regina. This comes as NAV Canada is reviewing several towers across the country, including the YQR tower.

In spite of denials, Prince Albert mayor in violation of COVID-19 rules after he unmasks at council meeting
It appears to be yet another case of a politician condoning one set of rules for the public but applying another set to themselves when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions and recommendations.
This time it’s Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne.
During a council meeting on Monday, Dionne took off his mask while chairing the meeting.
When asked why he did this, the mayor repeatedly insisted it was his right to do so and he was within the current COVID-19 regulations.
